Black walnut, oak and mixed timbers: comparing face materials through three parquet designs

HUAGE catalogue Dorothy uses North American black walnut, Sveta uses European white oak, and A21 combines North American black walnut with Canadian maple. Compare physical samples, grain and the laid effect rather than rank quality directly by species, colour variation or price.

For parquet face materials in China projects, compare black walnut, oak and mixed-wood options under the same light with interior materials. Using Dorothy, Sveta and A21 records, HUAGE explains the progression from species names to combined samples and a deliverable appearance range.

The same module group with different face-material information

All three belong to the original A17–A25 square multi-ply parquet group, listing 800 × 800 mm modules, 18 mm total thickness and 3 mm top layers. Shared scale does not establish identical surface woods. Read Dorothy, Sveta and A21 face materials with their respective records rather than copying one wood name to another.

A21 combines two woods within one parquet record. Examine their positions, directions and colour relationships within the unit. The catalogue name locates information and cannot imply imported finished boards, brand authorisation or partnership. Clearly link supplied materials and naming during sampling and ordering.

First consider the wood relationships required by the composition

For coherent patterns, inspect component grain and tonal transitions; to emphasise joints, examine timber contrast across the whole. Selection serves proportions, furniture and light. Darkness or species names do not establish a universal quality ranking.

Confirm black walnut, oak and mixed-timber effects through actual samples. Grain, source positions within timber and finishes affect colour; one colour name cannot describe every face. Compare several adjacent boards closely for grain and at normal viewing distance for the whole composition, so one intricate sample does not obscure the laid effect.

Turn colour variation into a discussable board-selection range

Natural wood face variation should be discussed through a representative physical range. Select different board faces and record which tonal, knot and grain variations are acceptable and which require reselection. Archiving a combined sample under the same light is more useful for later delivery checks than retaining only one carefully framed image.

Mixed-timber schemes need approval of the relationship between components. Approving one timber colour alone may shift the whole pattern's emphasis if the other changes. Design, sample and supply should use the same combination. Replenishment and substitutions require reviewing the full effect rather than matching one species name.

Face materials cannot replace construction and use requirements

The species field identifies the surface timber. Internal construction, core, overall thickness and coating are separate fields. List them together before comparing price and suitability. Two options called black walnut may differ in construction and finish; oak or maple names alone cannot establish environmental, underfloor-heating or abrasion performance.

Specific catalogue records support HUAGE selection, using three face materials for sample comparison and final approval through physical combinations and project specifications. Convert visual preferences into identifiable materials, appearance ranges and compositions so supply and installation share a basis and maintenance refers to actual products, not broad walnut or oak colour descriptions.

At final design, retain timber, composition and representative samples together. Compare arrival colour arrangements or replacements against the same appearance requirements; natural colour variation is not itself a quality grade.
